Early the beginning of Spring, the joyful news of the successful flight of manned light-sport aircraft(LSA) manufactured by Hunan Sunward Science and Techmology Co Ltd made a good start for the high and new technology industries in Changsha. It was informed from Science and Technology Department of Hunan Province that the provincial grand science and technology special project which is entitled as "the development and industrialization of light aircraft" headed by Hunan Sunward had made breakthroughs that the 2-seats light aircraft achieved successful first flight. This is another type of general aircraft with independent research and development and self-owned intellectual property rights, succeeding the successful flight of UAV(unmanned aerial vehicles) and flying boat.
According to international standards, aircrafts can be classified into three types, respectively, general-purpose aircrafts, feederliners and large capacity aircrafts. At present, the R&D of general aircrafts in our country are only in budding and the production of high-performance manned light aircrafts is still zero. The general light aircrafts needed by the various national airlines and aviation clubs had always relied on imports.
As was learned by the reporter that during the R&D of LSA, with its focus on self-owned technology and introduction of foreign technology and personnel, "Sunward" solved the difficulties of key technologies encountered in the research and development and gained the initiative in the intellectual property rights. In production, the key components of composite parts, high-quality molds and control system can be self-produced. A series of key technologies about the design and production of light aircrafts has also been mastered.
As was introduced, in order to further facilitate the development of general aviation industry still in budding, 60 million will be invested to produce 15 UAVs, 15 two seats light aircrafts and 70 flying boat so as to completely master the key technologies of design and construction, and the development and manufacture of important subsystems of light aircrafts.
